The Mahon Group’s rich history is forever linked to the Curragh Camp in Kildare, where their early operations were dedicated to supplying drinks to 20,000 stationed troops. It was here, in the heart of Ireland’s military community, that the Mahon family’s commitment to service first took root.
Starting out bottling mineral water, JJ Mahon & Sons quickly earned a reputation for reliability and quality—essentials when catering to such a large and demanding client. “It was a unique time,” recalls a family member. “Supplying the troops at the Curragh gave us our first real insight into what it meant to deliver, no matter what.”
The experience at the Curragh shaped the Mahon Group’s business ethos. As demand grew, so did the product range—expanding from minerals to beers, wines, and spirits. The business adapted to the changing needs of its customers while never losing sight of the values learned during those formative years.
Over time, the humble bottling plant evolved into a modern distribution centre, serving clients across the Midlands and beyond. Yet the Mahon family never forgot where it all began. “Our connection to the Curragh is something we’re incredibly proud of,” says Kevin Mahon. “It was the start of everything, and that sense of duty and service remains at the heart of our business.”
Today, the Mahon Group continues to serve the hospitality industry with the same passion, integrity, and commitment that first defined them at the Curragh.
